A list of some of the most common issues Liberty owners have to deal with.

  2. Valve Stem Corrosion

Fiat-Chrysler made a mistake by using aluminum valve stems in some of their early tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS). The aluminum stem and metal cap are highly susceptible to corrosion from salt and other contaminates.

  3. AHR Deploys

The active head restraints in some Jeep vehicles are handing out free concussions. A mechanical breakdown inside the restraint means they could deploy randomly at any time.

  4. Jeep TIPM Electrical Problems

If you've heard of a TIPM, chances are you own a vehicle from Fiat-Chrysler (FCA). Think of it like a command center for all the electrical functions of your car, and in FCA's case a very, very disfunctional one.

  5. Window Regulator Failure

  • Motion to dismiss

Nuwer, et al., v. FCA US LLC, et al.

    1. Motion to dismiss

According to the automaker, the Ram C/V owner who says his Chrysler headrest deployed can't bring his Arizona Consumer Fraud Act claim because he waited too long, making his claim time-barred. Chrysler argues a fraud claim must be brought within one year of when the cause of action accrues.

    2. Case Filed

A Chrysler active headrest lawsuit alleges occupants are suddenly hit in their heads because the head restraints inadvertently deploy without crash impacts.

  1. Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) is recalling 470,000 cars with active head restraints after an internal investigation revealed there were problems with the occupant restraint control modules that can degrade.

The investigation came after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) inquired about AHR complaints in the 2012 Jeep Liberty SUVs and 2012-2013 Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger cars.

The Liberty was involved in another AHR recall back in 2013.

What Owners Say About Their Liberty

Ridiculous Water Leaks through the Dome Light

Bought the Jeep used and in beautiful condition, except for some stains on the inside of the ceiling by both front windows. Dealer said original owners probably left windows open ... Sure enough there was water coming through during the first rain. The dealer replaced the seal on sun roof and cleaned the drains. It helped only on the drivers side. The leak still exists and now is coming through the panel on roof in between the visors!

Jeep Windows Keep Falling Into the Door

This was the 3rd (or 4th) window that I had to fix. So aggravating!! Why can't this problem be corrected?? My car guy said that the replacement parts were so poorly made that it will just keep breaking. And for me to be prepared to have them tear up again.

Jeep Windows Keep Falling Into the Door

Rolled down the rear, passenger window to allow my kids to get some fresh air while waiting in the Jeep. When I tried to roll the windows back up, a strange clicking noise occurred and the window would not go up. When I tried to manually push the window up it almost dropped completely into the door, but I caught it in time. There was no recall notice at this time in Canada so I had to pay $750 to get the entire window assembly replaced.
